▶ AI discovery experience launched in Korea and Japan at the same time, marking Plateer's entry into B2C
▶ Connecting AI discovery capabilities to consumer services for the agentic commerce era
Plateer (CEO Lee Sang-hoon), an agentic commerce company, announced on April 21 that it has launched gelatto, an agentic discovery platform, in Korea and Japan simultaneously, entering the B2C AI discovery market.
With this launch, Plateer has extended the AI, commerce, and discovery technology it has built into consumer services. The service is available on separate domains in Korea (gelatto.ai) and Japan (gelatto.jp).
gelatto understands users' tastes and intentions and naturally connects the entire journey from search to discovery. Where conventional shopping search depends on fragmented keywords such as product names or categories, gelatto lets users freely describe the situation and style they want in full sentences and finds the best results. At its core is ‘agentic discovery’: AI that actively supports consumers through the whole process of exploring and discovering, beyond simple search.
Unlike general-purpose AI, gelatto is built for shopping. It puts image-led visual discovery ahead of text answers so users can see styles at a glance, and lets them narrow results by adding conditions such as “a bit more casual” or “under KRW 200,000.” Rather than stopping at recommendations, it links out to products actually on sale, making purchase easy.
The launch is the first time Plateer has extended the AI discovery technology built in the B2B market to B2C. It showcases the technology behind its agentic commerce solution genser Discovery directly to consumers, and serves as a practical reference showing business customers how the same AI discovery experience can scale.
Plateer is also committed to global markets. In Japan, it has validated its AI discovery technology through collaborations with a major sports brand and a large food and ingredients distribution platform. gelatto was developed from the start for East Asian consumer markets, and about 600,000 products from Korea and Japan are currently connected. gelatto is designed to get smarter as user discovery and product data accumulate, and the simultaneous launch is intended to speed up this data cycle.
Plateer plans to help commerce businesses quickly bring the agentic discovery experience delivered through gelatto to their own services. According to the company's own analysis, business customers can integrate on the same technology base within one to two weeks.
Plateer is also growing its partner ecosystem. Brands and online stores can connect easily using their existing product feeds (EP, GMC Feed, API, etc.). Payment takes place on the partner's own store rather than inside the platform, a ‘shared-growth channel’ model that brings real traffic to brands and online stores. A limited-time free policy is available to attract early partners.
Lee Bong-kyo, Head of the AI CX Division at Plateer, said, “gelatto is a core model that extends Plateer's B2B AI discovery capabilities into a real consumer service. By using AI to capture the tastes and context that keyword search misses, consumers get natural discovery and brands get well-targeted traffic.” He added, “Starting with the simultaneous launch in Korea and Japan, we will advance both the consumer experience and our partner ecosystem.”
